ABOUT

SR 75 (Suncrest Drive) is a key corridor situated midway between Kingsport and Johnson City. This segment of Suncrest Drive provides access to several residential neighborhoods, schools, churches, industrial sites, and other retail. As the surrounding community has grown, traffic congestion has increased.

The intent of this study is to examine the existing transportation conditions along the corridor and identify improvements that could be made to mitigate future congestion, improve roadway resiliency, make safety improvements, and improve pedestrian accessibility. As development continues to occur, the City and County aim to proactively provide improvements to meet future traffic demands and ensure safety for all users.

A corridor study is an analysis conducted to understand the current and future conditions of a specific transportation route or corridor. The study identifies traffic patterns, safety, and land use impacts. The goal is to identify necessary improvements to accommodate future growth, enhance safety, and improve overall traffic flow and accessibility for all users.

At the conclusion of the study, a list of recommendations for improvements will be provided that the City and County will aim to implement over the short, mid, and long term.

The project team, the City of Johnson City, and Washington County need input from community members on your experiences, your concerns, and what transportation improvements you would like to see along SR 75 (Suncrest Drive).

There will be several options to provide input, including the online survey provided here and three public meetings.

Public Meeting #1 is scheduled for May 8th @ 5:30 PM at Ridgeview Elementary School.

Public Meeting #2 is tentatively scheduled for August 2025. The project team will present Initial Recommendations.

Public Meeting #3 is tentatively scheduled for October 2025. The project team will present the Final Plan.
