Hall Community Roadway Enhancements

** The draft recommendations are conceptual only and are not intended to be used for design or construction. **

Proposed Improvements

  • Improved curb and gutter on median and outside travel lane
  • 5-foot grass strip between roadway and sidewalk
  • 6-foot sidewalk on east side of Hall Road
  • 10-foot multi-use path (greenway) on west side of Hall Road
  • Street name signs on outside lane
  • Pedestrian-scale lighting
  • Marked crosswalks across side streets

Safety Benefits

Speed Reduction

The combination of improvements provide visual cues to drivers of their speed. By narrowing the feel of the road with curb and gutter on both sides, drivers will inherently slow their speed. The addition of street name signs and marked crosswalks at all side streets will bring attention to drivers that they are traveling through a neighborhood.

Pedestrian and Bicyclist Enhancements

The 5-foot grass strip between the road and the sidewalk provides a buffer between traffic and pedestrians or bicyclists, making their comfort level increase. The greenway on the west side of Hall Road provides an off-road connection to the Maryville-Alcoa Greenway for bicyclists. The pedestrian-scale lighting increases the visibility at night.
